PORLOCK TOWN CRIER
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions we have re-worked the original plan.
We could not allow the occasion to pass without its due recognition.
Following here is the revised plan.
Please share with friends and neighbours to get the message out there!
Friday 8th May 2020
'Crying out for Peace around the World'
In commemoration and celebration of VE Day 75, I will be delivering a
'Cry for Peace around the World' from my village centre garden at Doverhay.
If the weather is good enough, I will be using a public address system to extend the range.
Hopefully we'll get a stream uploaded to the internet so that those too far away can get to see/hear it.
It would be great, and I would encourage everyone to decorate your homes in red, white and blue for
the day and perhaps display a Union Flag in your garden or window.

3.30 p.m. As a village, sit down to have a Cream Tea or something similar, preferably in your front gardens. Play suitable music if you can, & definitely have (socially distant), conversations with your neighbours (even if you have to shout a bit!). Maybe even join up with others using social media or video calls. Music links and information are below.
There are a number of outlets in the village and the vale offering cream teas, cakes and all sorts of yummy treats for the occasion. A quick search of social media, or a phone call to friends will help you find them.
Despite the Lockdown, we'll make it a day to remember - Porlock Style!

Lyrics for The National Anthem - God Save The Queen
God save our gracious Queen
Long live our noble Queen
God save the Queen
Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us
God save the Queen
Lyrics to 'We’ll Meet Again' , Made famous by Dame Vera Lynn
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Till the blue skies chase
Those dark clouds far away
And I will just say hello
To the folks that you know
Tell them you won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That, as I saw you go
You were singing this song
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day
And I will just say hello
To the folks that you know
Tell them you won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That, as I saw you go
You were singing this song
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day
